FARI - AI for the Common Good (Brussels)




 
 

The aim of FARI is to enable, promote and perform excellent cross-disciplinary research on Artificial Intelligence in Brussels, inspired by the humanistic values of freedom, equality and solidarity that lay at the foundations of both the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), internationally acclaimed and with a local impact.

FARI CAVE: FARI CAVE (Computer Augmented Virtual Environment) infrastructure aims to enable FARI stakeholders, researchers, project managers and technical experts with 3D VR visualisation of research and application projects, from ideation to MVP and to further project refinements.

MoveAhead - ADAPT/DCU (Dublin)






MoveAhead brings together expertise in movement analysis, gamification and motion sensor technology to develop movement-based educational games and data collection activities to facilitate real change in movement behaviours. The project aims to support improvements in children’s skills through meaningful motility-based human-computer interactions.

MoveAhead is a new Start-Up from ADAPT and DCU that aims to address poor movement capabilities of Irish children as highlighted in recent studies (full study) conducted by DCU (School of Health and Human Performance) and INSIGHT.

SAUCE is a three-year EU Research and Innovation project between Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Foundry, DNEG, Brno University of Technology, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Saarland University, Trinity College Dublin, Disney Research to create a step-change in allowing creative industry companies to re-use existing digital assets for future productions.

Crowd Scene Synthesis: Research and development of a crowd population asset that can be retargeted to semantically similar environment. Use of semantic description of assets and understand the relationship, context, distribution and behaviour of crowd agents.

PetAR Simulator - A virtual pet at home! (Personal)

Taking care of a virtual dog with best of affection and love, visualised through ARCore for full immersion. Consisting of three dogs to choose from,  feed the dog, give it water, a nice home for it to sleep in and give commands for it to follow!

Demonstration of concepts of forward and inverse kinematics, principles of animations, camera timeline construction through a short film, conveying a deeper message. Use of manual intervention for control of scene and exploration of visual capabilities with freedom of level design and game programming.

League of Legends and Unity Chan - AR (Personal)

Implementation of Unity5 and use of Vuforia as a learning step for game development. A simple level design project consisting of levels with environments and animated characters projected using Vuforia's marker-based system of AR. An all-around project based on characters from League of Legends, the well-renowned MOBA.
